Commercial architects for public projects and community spaces

Public spaces and commercial buildings have the power to uplift and inspire the communities they serve. At Enduring Domain, we specialise in community-focused projects that blend with their surroundings, creating spaces for gathering, collaboration, and physical activity. We seek to create functional and innovative spaces that positively contribute to people and place, thoughtfully designed to have a minimal environmental impact.

Commercial architectural designs where sustainability comes first

Every commercial design should meet the needs of those using it, while thoughtfully connecting with the outside environment. At Enduring Domain, we’re striving to raise the bar for commercial architecture in Australia by making sustainability a priority in every project.

Our goal is to design buildings that fit the community, culture, and environment, ensuring the longevity of our designs for generations to come. We aim to create cost-effective spaces that are easy to use, make use of natural resources, and have a positive impact on the people using them.

Frequently asked questions

What does a commercial architect do?

Commercial architects design and oversee the construction of buildings used for business or public purposes, such as workplaces, retail spaces, offices, and industrial spaces. Even more than in residential developments, commercial architects must have a good understanding and knowledge of the rules, regulations, and permits needed to build in a public space. Enduring Domain designs small commercial projects, specialising in sustainable design and construction.

Can you help with obtaining permits and approvals?

Yes. We prepare planning permit applications, submit them on your behalf and deal with all correspondence and queries from the planning department. We either prepare all application documentation ourselves, or manage other specialist consultants if required.

We are experienced in dealing with rural properties where there are many challenging overlays to deal with, such as Bushfire Management Overlays, Environmental Significance Overlays, or Heritage Overlays.

We also prepare all documentation and manage the work of other specialist consultants as required for a Building Permit Application. These documents can also be used to get a builders quote and quotes for individual trades and materials.

Do your designs include the interior design of the building?

To a degree, yes. We are not interior designers or specialised in detailed design of aesthetic-driven interiors, but we design all joinery and wet area layouts, and specify external materials and colours as well as internal linings and finishes. We also design electrical layouts and lighting layouts.

You have the freedom here to select your own colour scheme, tapware, appliances, fixtures, and fittings.
