Introducing the Tiny Active Home. A compact net zero self-sufficient home designed to make you live well and age well.
The aim of most modern homes these days is to live as passively as possible, whith as much luxury and comfort as we can afford. We want to not have any steps, no high cupboards, to push a button and have instant warmth, and to move as easily as possible with the least amount of effort from room to room. With more of us becoming more sedentary than ever before, our life of ‘luxury’ does not come without a price. Many studies on physiological wellbeing have shown that reduced activity as we get older is a major contributor to debilitating physical and mental conditions. Although we might be living longer our healthspan does not necessarily extend as far as our lifespan.
The Tiny ACTIVE House is a concept for a small and affordable home which will accommodate all your needs but not feature anything superfluous. Think of it as a playground to live in while you maintain or improve your mobility, agility and strength.
With a mezzanine sleeping loft, you will need to climb a ladder to reach it. Want to reach the concealed storage area or read a book on the suspended net lounge? You’ll need to climb the climbing wall. Want to work from home? The floor sit/ stand desk will keep you from sitting in one position too long. The outdoor room features a trellis structure on which to train vines on one side, and climb all over on the other, just for fun. The steel bar which structurally ties the verandah to the house can be used to hang washing and is also great for working on your chinups.
Designed to be a playground to live in and age well. Experience the joy of movement, and freedom from things you don’t need like utility bills and three bathrooms.
